Main idea and its purpose
The method originated at the beginning of the 20th century in the USA under the influence of Japanese poetry. Develops imaginative thinking and the ability to formulate thoughts.
Traditionally cinquain (from French сinquains, English cinquain) - a poem of five lines, built according to the scheme 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - 2, where the numbers indicate the number of syllables in the line. The Cinquain form was developed by the American poet Adelaide Crapsy in the early 20th century under the influence of Japanese poetry.
Сinquain is used as a tool for analyzing and synthesizing information. Сinquain requires the ability to find the main point and briefly formulate it. Syncwines researchers notice that the ability to gather a large amount of information, express complex ideas, feelings and ideas in a few words, images.
Application guidance: scope of application, for example, when working with a group of a certain age and composition; in individual work, etc.
Composing Сinquain is a form of creative activity, a method of developing figurative speech. L.S. Vygotsky argued that "...everything that goes beyond the bounds of routine and contains at least an iota of the new has been created by the human creative process."
Using the Sinquain method requires:
• explain the rules for writing Сinquain;
• make a Сinquain with the students on the topic of the lesson, showing the perception of the vocabulary;
• determine topics for Сinquain writing in the first stage in pairs (groups)
• fix the time for writing Сinquain;
- listen to examples.
Didactic Сinquain compilation technique:
1st row: 1 word - concept or topic - noun
Line 2: 2 descriptive words (adjectives or participles)
3rd row: 3 words - verbs
Line 4: a phrase or sentence that shows an attitude towards the topic (aphorism). Ideally - 4 words.
5th row: 1 word - a synonym that repeats the essence of the topic.
If you follow these rules, you can get, for example, the following Сinquain:
Life. Hard, heavy. Down, let down, break. May freedom come sooner and eternal peace! Death.
Life. Bright, fast. Fascinates, invites, teaches. It always seems too short! Flash.

Сinquain attracts with its simplicity of construction, it takes less time than, for example, an essay. I use this technique at different stages of the lesson: challenge, content (new material) understanding, reflection stage.
I use Сinquain most often as a "quick but powerful reflection tool".
The first line of Сinquain allows you to judge the ability of the student's meta-subject to determine the topic. The other rows describe the meta-subject's ability to highlight the essential features of the concept, choose the right word to define the selected features, and the ability to generalize and formulate a conclusion-thesis.
It is useful for developing the ability to analyze and also requires the student to focus, think and have a rich conceptual stock. Сinquain therefore allows you to assess students' conceptual and vocabulary levels.
